Dry Herb Specialty
The Linx Gaia dry herb vape experience is excellent, it was designed for only dry herbs, keeping the complexity down and making it perfectly suited to its job.
Looks Cool
There is a really snazzy retro chic to this vaporizer, having lines that could be in any James Bond car from the 60’s and a brilliant little OLED screen packed in. It is made from brushed aluminum, so it is light, tough and shiny looking. Shiny is good.
Tough as Hell
The construction quality of the Linx Gaia is surprisingly good, especially for the price. The seams are all tight, the mouthpiece fits beautifully and the buttons are all of that quality type that you don’t expect to go all sticky and die in a few months. It has a satisfying weight but is not too heavy. The Linx Gaia is very, very well made.
Glass Mouthpiece
Nothing cools vapor or tastes as good as a glass mouthpiece and the borosilicate glass of the one on the Linx Gaia is right up there with the best. Pop off the magnetic cap and experience the unbeatable low heat transmission of a glass vape.
Portability
This will not compete with a pen vape for size, but they could never compete with the Linx Gaia for the quality of vape and the battery life. It is small enough to pop into a pocket but big enough to grip securely. Not the most discreet vape out there, it still fares much better than the Storz and Bickel Crafty in terms of discretion.
Temperature Control
A portable vape like this with 5 temperature controls between 200°F and 428°F is excellent. The temperatures are all in the right places for a wide and satisfying range of vapor qualities and flavors. Set the temperature you want, wait just 20 seconds and it will be fully up to temp and ready to blast off.
Convenience
A magnetic loading/stirring tool is incorporated into the bottom of the body, making it super convenient to load up in a hurry or when a little incapacitated.
Charge Time and Session Length
This vape will charge in 2 hours or so, which is pretty good for the half hour of pure vaping time you will get from a single charge. It uses USB, so you can charge it anywhere your phone can charge. Pretty useful.
Capacity and Chamber
The capacity of the chamber is 0.25 grams. This is not the largest out there but is easily big enough for sharing amongst friends. It is easy to access, fill and clean the chamber, which is entirely made of quartz crystal for the best heating experience. The heating element is also quartz, giving a convection heating that makes for a very consistent vapor quality from first to last hit.
Weight
Weighing in at 146 grams, the Linx Gaia is not the lightest portable vaporizer out there but considering the battery life, the glass mouthpiece, the tough construction and high quality vaping, there is not much else that can compete.
Price
The Linx Gaia is very cheap when the quality on show is taken into account. At £115 or so, it is more expensive than smaller devices but substantially cheaper than a Mighty or other high end competitor. While it is cheaper, it holds its own very well.
Most Importantly: Vape Quality
Vaping is intensely personal, everybody likes something different from their experience. The 5 temperature settings are cunningly chosen, they all offer a different experience and can get the maximum out of any dry herb you stick in there.
The vapor is thick and tasty, with a good feel at the back of the throat and no burnt tastes even towards the end of the session. It is a full convection heating chamber, not a conduction/convection like some of the more expensive models, but gives a good account of itself nonetheless. Packing it with herbs is easy, toking on it a pleasure (low drag resistance) and the vape is consistent, thick and flavoursome.
Overall, the Linx Gaia is just about the best portable vape in this price range.
